In repeatedly praising US President Donald Trump and awarding him the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize, Gianni Infantino has openly broken his own organisation’s rules on political neutrality and abused his power as President of FIFA.
Infantino isn’t fit to lead FIFA. And FIFA isn’t fit to govern football. But to change it, we first have to expose and prove how unaccountable FIFA really is.
Add your name to our complaint to FIFA’s Ethics Committee, demand that Infantino be investigated immediately, and let’s see how FIFA respond to us.
Your voice can make a difference
FIFA’s Ethics Committee is the only way ordinary people who care about the game can hold Infantino and the wider organisation to account — you have no other representation in FIFA’s governance structures, no other way to get your voice heard.
The complaints process is not transparent. Sending one doesn’t compel the Committee to investigate Infantino. And if they do decide to, they don’t have to tell you about it.
That doesn’t matter. Even if the Committee choose not to investigate Infantino, sending this mass complaint still exposes how unaccountable both Infantino and FIFA have become to the global football community they say they represent. And gives us hard evidence to go to the people and organisations that have the power to force it to change — politicians, governments, football associations and sponsors — and present them with arguments they can’t ignore.
As the World Cup approaches, Infantino and FIFA are in the spotlight, so now is the time to act and demand the organisation hold their leader accountable and sanction him for breaking the rules.
Help send them the largest complaint they’ve ever received, and let’s see how they respond. Add your name now.
What our complaint says
We’ve already submitted one complaint, supported by the Norwegian FA, that says:
- Infantino’s awarding of the Peace Prize to a sitting political leader is a clear breach of FIFA’s duty of neutrality, set out in its Code of Ethics.
- It appears that Infantino acted unilaterally and without any statutory authority to create the Peace Prize, this should be considered an egregious abuse of power.
- Infantino and FIFA’s behaviour is against the common interests of the global football community they say they represent.
We will be monitoring Infantino’s conduct and statements over the World Cup and keeping track of any more Code of Ethics breaches, you can see the latest ones here.
We’ll put all of these into an updated complaint, add your name and send it to the Ethics Committee at the end of the World Cup.
If this doesn’t spark an investigation into Infantino, we will still have helped expose how FIFA is unable to hold its own leadership to account and so is unfit to govern world football. Add your name now.
